January 2018 Update
It was meant to be a quiet Maipelo clinic today, but it turned out to be quite busy! We saw 24 people: 7 children and 17 adults. Thankfully, we were able to start one of the adults on HIV medication, as well as provide birth control options to several of the women. We also saw one heavily pregnant woman, and are running lab tests to assess her options in terms of breastfeeding while keeping the risk of transmitting HIV to her baby as low as possible. Finally, we referred two babies for HIV testing, and are hoping the results are negative!
