February 2018 Update
We had a wonderful multidisciplinary Maipelo clinic today - the entire team was on board, so we had expertise in various areas including OB/GYN, infectious diseases, and family medicine. It was great to be able to refer to each other throughout the morning, and our patients certainly benefitted from having input from all. Overall, we saw 32 people: 21 adults and 11 children.
We had two (!) babies test negative for HIV, and sadly one new baby born HIV+ to a mother who stopped treatment. We were able to get both that baby and mother restarted on treatment. The baby's father remains HIV negative and very supportive.
Most of the kids we saw are thriving, and we got deworming done during this clinic. Until next time!
